Style in Florence isn't just all about clothes... It's about all the senses. Italians have a particular penchant for beautiful scents. And Florence offers a number of specialized boutiques that cater to these innate needs. This includes the gorgeous but oh-so-touristy Farmacia Santa Maria Novella shop, and - our personal favorite - the more discreet and elegant Aquaflor.
Tucked away in one of the side streets of the Santa Croce Cathedral, Aquaflor only shop in the world encompasses a series of superbly appointed rooms in a historic palazzo erected in the 16th century by the Antinori family (you may recognize the name from the Antinori wines).
At the helm of the laboratory is master perfumer Sileno Cheloni, who draws inspiration from the love of unique scents and experiences. With an expansive line of room perfumes, candles, personal soaps, lotions and oils, Aquaflor and Mr. Cheloni can also customize perfumes for their clients (Academy Award winner Helen Mirren just got her hands on her own this summer), and even "corporate logo" scents for a business.
