Everyone knows that Oltrarno is the heart of Florence’s creative scene. And with endless amounts of artisan shops and studios, it’s hard to get to know each and every one of them.
Last month, while shopping for unique Christmas gifts (we were sick of buying wine and olive oil to our relatives abroad), we stumbled upon the charming Anita Russo Ceramic Studio, right off the Porta Romana entrance to Palazzo Pitti's Boboli Gardens.
The studio was founded by Anita Russo, a lovely young creative with a wide smile and a passion for ceramics that permeate her space. As guests enter the long, rectangular shop, it is hard to begin to focus on just one of so many beautiful pieces. Anita’s rustic yet, colorful and modern pieces are primarily focused for the home and include vases, plates, light fixtures, mugs and cups. Anita personally designs and creates each piece (with love, obviously) in the back of her shop, where her workshop also doubles as a classroom for both individuals and groups.
