It's 9am on a Friday and we can't wait to be unleashed from the office to go pop open a bottle of crisp white wine this afternoon. It's too bad we're not in Italy because if we were, we would already be on the grounds of the Roccafiore winery in the heart of the country's Umbria region.
The winery's distinct varieties have already grown in distribution and popularity in the USA, particularly the white Fiorfiore Todi Grechetto Doc Superiore. Perfect for summer, the wine is harvested in mid-September and is fermented from the little-known Grechetto grape. With a production run of about 16,000 bottles, the full bodied and pale vino is matured over 12 months in Slavonian oak barrels and then four months in its bottle. All of this for a refreshing post-work week anti-anxiety solution.
The grounds of the Roccafiore Winery even includes a "wine resort," wellness center and restaurant. We call it the best place to crash in after too many drinks.
