The city of Florence has traditionally been known to be one that resists change with all of it's collective power. Recently, however, the visually arresting Renaissance city has seen an explosion of creatives developing shop, restaurant and lifestyle concepts that can rival those in Milan, Paris or Madrid.
A recent, much buzzed about opening is La Ménagère, a project that is part household shop, part flower shop, part cocktail bar, and - more importantly - part restaurant & bistrot. The 1,500 square-meter space is a feast of the eyes, and the mouth as well. Beautifully curated housewares are sold alongside vibrant flowers, with an adjoining industrial chic dining room and bistrot serving seasonal, contemporary interpretations of Italian dishes conceptualized by young professionals from the Saffi Academy's renowned culinary training program, La Prova del Nove. Our current favorite? Maccheroncini pasta with dried tomato pesto, served with salted ricotta over a cream of asparagus. Mouth-watering, to say the least.
Located right smack in the historic center of Florence, La Ménagère is right around the corner from the gorgeous and historic Palazzo Medici Riccardi museum.
