American Monarchs Reign New York

This week, New York's Meatpacking District welcomed a "fresh market American brasserie," The Monarch Room

The multi-level space is inspired by the building's heritage as a 1930s warehouse with seating for 180 diners. The Art Deco design with a twist mixes nostalgic elements of dark wood, leather and concrete, with a large cupola chandelier as a centerpiece.

At the helm of the kitchen is Chef Michael Citarella (of Freemans) who has conjured up dishes that include a Spiced Duck Breast with Braised Leek, Sweet Potatoes and Hibiscus, and a Rabbit Roulade with Lentils, Turnips, Mustard, and Bacon.
